Narrow Escape

I was swiftly picked up by some MEN in BLACK whom i don't know when i tried to take a snap of of an old relic at the GRAND TRUNK road in Rawalpindi Saddar on Aug 20,2009. I did not know that by taking a simple snap i had jeopardized god forbid the national security or something like that. The officials were professional and my repeated requests of innocence fell on deaf ear.

They embarked upon a full scale investigation against me. First they decided to lock me up, however when i told that i was an Intern in the nearly located Central Bank of the country they decided to take me right to the office for verification. My embarrassment was beyond description when i was taken to the Incharge there with my fellow interns standing in amusement. However the In-charge flatly refused and didn't give any guaranty for me.

My captors were overjoyed and tried to impress me how powerful they were. Then they ask me whether i have any relative in the town to which i told about my brother who was working in the Government. One of the them was ordered by the his boss to go along with me right to my brother place of duty and make sure that I am not an enemy's agent. The guy took me on bike and after a while told me that he knew i am an innocent student, however according to him my misbehavior with him and his boss was causing me this trouble. After seeing the place of duty of my brother the guy didn't bother to meet him and asked me to wait.

After sometimes he came back with my cellphone however they erased the memory of it. It resulted loss of the pictures which we had taken the other day while on our official trip to a park in the capital.  wash my cell's memory card which caused my collections to go in air.

MORAL: Keep your head and eyes down at your toes while walking past any Garrison area in Pakistan :)

Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus

The much awaited Metro Bus Service is now functional in Islamabad connecting it to the twin city of Rawalpindi. The PKR 45 billion cost (USD 4440 million) of the project was criticized mainly by the opposition parties led by Tehreek Insaaf. However the record time for completion of the project is something which justifies the the financial outlay. In Pakistan Public Sector infrastructure projects are plagued by delays and some are altogether abandoned after partial work. The 23 KM long metro has 24 station. Today I had a glimpse of Pakistan Secretariat Station of it. There is quite excitement among the travelers and many are travelling just to have fun. Few pics here. Although secretariat is closed today being Saturday, still large number of public was seen buying tickets and Metro-Bus Card.  To avoid queuing up the line to buy ticket, a better option is to get a Metro-Bus Card. The card can be reloaded and costs 130 Rs for the first time and subsequently rec...
