My CSS Experience

I had wanted to appear in CSS since the time I graduated. However because of admission in University for my Master degree in Economics and later on being busy with doing a 9-5 job i had no chance to sit in this rigorous test of knowledge, skills and patience for so long. I applied for it in 2013 and was all set to come to Peshawar from my home town of Chitral when on the very morning when i was travelling, the Lawari road was closed because of heavy snowfall. This hinderance has dashed the hopes of hundreds of aspirants like me who have missed their tests, interviews and jobs because of this unavoidable blockade of the district during winters. For me  I put it to my fate, this being the second time as earlier i had missed a lectureship interview in Mardan's Abdul Wali Khan university. 

Fate aside, for those who are not familiar with CSS i would like to add a few line. CSS stands for Competitive examinations of federal government of Pakistan. This is equivalent to IAS of India and Indian Civil Service (ICS) in pre partition days. There are twelve occupational group to which the successful candidates are allocated after a rigorous process of test and interviews. These batch of candidates form the elite echelon of bureaucracy who run the country on de facto basis alongside the politicians who become boss for a certain period and then go into the darkness. 

The paper this year started on the mid february day with the start of spring and a pleasant sunshine. Although working in the private sector and appearing in the CE cost me one month salary, however i am quite satisfied with the exposure i got while going through these papers. 

 As usual the first to go was the essay paper which is usually the tough of all. Last year out of 11 thousand appeared in this exam, 10 thousand were unable to pass in this subject. So to go for was like bathing in cold water during winters for me. However with a do or die like situation i went through it. 

Hence forth I will be posting 12 entries detailing my attempt of the papers. Stay tuned :)

PHD in Economics

Not many universities offer PHD program in Economics in Pakistan. And of those offered only a few can be said to produce quality PHDs. So the other choice remains is to go for study in Abroad. But it not comes at free. There are requirement of GRE and Toefl which are a hard to do job for a Pakistani student. Here are few advice for the aspiring Economists. A lot has been said & done already. Study for your GREs because they're very important -- get multiple computer practice exams. Take courses & obtain research experience that you think will prepare you well for grad school. This might include graduate economics classes, or finding some offbeat & compelling research topic for an undergrad paper. Or maybe just trying to fill some deficiencies in your mathematics training (like, e.g., if you haven't taken multivariable calc & linear algebra). Telenor easypaisa Gimmicks

Of late this mobile banking service has become a source of nuisance. Instead of providing quality service to its customers, It is trying to dupe them in one way or the other to mint money from them on as bizarre scheme as MOBILE INSURANCE through which they purport to pay 1000 PKR as medical bill in case of medical emergency. The customers are nowadays continuously getting spam calls from Easy Paisa for so called Medical Insurance. I have time and again their representatives categorically that I am not doing it as I have already had it for one year. I was duped by one of their of your representative to go for it saying that it is totally free but later on i found they have deducted around 1000 PKR from my account. I am seriously thinking of changing Easypaisa as my mobile account and as well as Telenor as my network. God forbid, if anything happens, they are not going to pay a single penny on one pretext or the other, while they call this a medical insurance, there is no proof of it...
