Today's Important Points

1. Visited Sacha Sauda Gurdwara in connection with Sikh Yatris visit. The sprawling Gurdwara is located in Farooqabad Shiekhupura. Around 200 Sikh Yatris from India and around the world are going to visit this Gurdwara in connection with Besakhi Festival on April 17th, 2017. The Police has detailed a comprehensive security plan for the premises and for the visitors keeping in view the precarious security situation in the country. TMA, Civil defence and other government department are almost non-existant and piles of garbages have been piled up in an open area just in front of the main gate of the gurduwara. It is no very pleasant kind of view particulary for guest coming from abroad.

2. Visit to Police Station Khanqah Dogran

The Police station was established in 1922 and is one of the oldest in the district. Some of the record of the Police Station was burnt during unrest when Nankana was carved out of Shiekhupura as a separate district. The record of the Police Station is not being maintained properly and particularly after the introduction of the front desks, the registers seemed to be altogether discarded which is against the rules and regulation governing the Police Station and Police in general.

3. Visit to Police Station City Farooqabad

The SHO and Moharar were present in uniform even the day being sunday was quite encouraging. The record of the Police station was observed and to a great extent it was being kept except for some descripancies

4. Visit of Punjab Constabulory Farooqabad

In the later part of the day, we visited Punjab Constabulory whose HQ is located in Farooqabad. A battalion of Punjab Constabulory is being stationed here. We carried out riding and then attended a Kabbadi match final between PC and Gujranwala. In this match, Gujranwala won the game by 37-30 with good display of sportsmanship.

Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus

The much awaited Metro Bus Service is now functional in Islamabad connecting it to the twin city of Rawalpindi. The PKR 45 billion cost (USD 4440 million) of the project was criticized mainly by the opposition parties led by Tehreek Insaaf. However the record time for completion of the project is something which justifies the the financial outlay. In Pakistan Public Sector infrastructure projects are plagued by delays and some are altogether abandoned after partial work. The 23 KM long metro has 24 station. Today I had a glimpse of Pakistan Secretariat Station of it. There is quite excitement among the travelers and many are travelling just to have fun. Few pics here. Although secretariat is closed today being Saturday, still large number of public was seen buying tickets and Metro-Bus Card.  To avoid queuing up the line to buy ticket, a better option is to get a Metro-Bus Card. The card can be reloaded and costs 130 Rs for the first time and subsequently rec...

PHD in Economics

Not many universities offer PHD program in Economics in Pakistan. And of those offered only a few can be said to produce quality PHDs. So the other choice remains is to go for study in Abroad. But it not comes at free. There are requirement of GRE and Toefl which are a hard to do job for a Pakistani student. Here are few advice for the aspiring Economists. A lot has been said & done already. Study for your GREs because they're very important -- get multiple computer practice exams. Take courses & obtain research experience that you think will prepare you well for grad school. This might include graduate economics classes, or finding some offbeat & compelling research topic for an undergrad paper. Or maybe just trying to fill some deficiencies in your mathematics training (like, e.g., if you haven't taken multivariable calc & linear algebra). I think the econ courses are better preparation than are the more sophisticated math courses, but probability & math ...

Telenor easypaisa Gimmicks

Of late this mobile banking service has become a source of nuisance. Instead of providing quality service to its customers, It is trying to dupe them in one way or the other to mint money from them on as bizarre scheme as MOBILE INSURANCE through which they purport to pay 1000 PKR as medical bill in case of medical emergency. The customers are nowadays continuously getting spam calls from Easy Paisa for so called Medical Insurance. I have time and again their representatives categorically that I am not doing it as I have already had it for one year. I was duped by one of their of your representative to go for it saying that it is totally free but later on i found they have deducted around 1000 PKR from my account. I am seriously thinking of changing Easypaisa as my mobile account and as well as Telenor as my network. God forbid, if anything happens, they are not going to pay a single penny on one pretext or the other, while they call this a medical insurance, there is no proof of it...
