Sahib Bahadar visit

Photos show the worthy visitor being escorted by horsemen. Height of sycophancy and whoever has this novel idea of welcoming is perhaps least concerned about the peril being faced by Chitralis. Are we back to colonial era and a "Company Bahader" is visiting the district? The need of the hour is immediate and smart action and not gimmicks like this which is conveying a negative image of the civil service. ~Imran

CSS Academies

Preparation for CSS has become a booming business in Pakistan. In every nook and corner of major cities and town, these are omnipresent with large billboards and colorful posters of successful candidates from previous exams. It is a dillema for an aspirant whether to join an academy or not.  As with every decision we make, there are pros and cons to this one as well. A smart and quick learner aspirant has very little to learn from any academy and should not go for it beyond one month or only go for the free classes which are offered at the start of a batch. Better not pay huge sum of money for something you can do on your own :) However most of the aspirants have to attend as it is difficult to set a routine for oneself on daily basis, sit down and study. Also if you are paying for something, naturally you expect something in return. Thus it help you to keep focus on your aim.  So for selection of an academy, look at the expenses, time, class timing, commuting, faculty previou

Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus

The much awaited Metro Bus Service is now functional in Islamabad connecting it to the twin city of Rawalpindi. The PKR 45 billion cost (USD 4440 million) of the project was criticized mainly by the opposition parties led by Tehreek Insaaf. However the record time for completion of the project is something which justifies the the financial outlay. In Pakistan Public Sector infrastructure projects are plagued by delays and some are altogether abandoned after partial work. The 23 KM long metro has 24 station. Today I had a glimpse of Pakistan Secretariat Station of it. There is quite excitement among the travelers and many are travelling just to have fun. Few pics here. Although secretariat is closed today being Saturday, still large number of public was seen buying tickets and Metro-Bus Card.  To avoid queuing up the line to buy ticket, a better option is to get a Metro-Bus Card. The card can be reloaded and costs 130 Rs for the first time and subsequently recharg

Without any scientific calculation, when growth target is set in a random manner, then it is simply going to be missed by a margin. India is growing at 8% while china in the double digit until recently. We never gave any serious thoughts to our this very pathetic performance. Population = 191.7 Million: Mashallah the Islamic Republic is growing by leaps and bounds and the number of Muslims is on the rise. However, the condition and standard of living for these are deteriorating. Agriculure 20.9% of GDP: Agriculture occupies as the main activity in the country contributing to more than one fifth of the GDP. This, is like we are still living in the agrarian era Agriculture 43.5 of Employment: Mostly this low paid sector where people are semi-employed and return is very low for the farmers and labors. All the gains are for the landlords. Per Capita Income = 1512 Dollar

People waited for hours at checkpoints in order to reach their offices as chinese president landed in Islamabad for two day visit. The Pakistani Capital is sealed and planes are constantly in the skies to ensure that the "big brother" is secure in the Pakistan capital. Employees of Pakistan Secretariat waiting at a checkpoint in the vicinity of Parliament of House. The are here for the past one hour and police deployed at the check post says it will take two more hours before they will let the workers go to office. As reciprocal goodwill gesture, Cheeni Saddar announces public holiday in Beijing whenever Pakistani president visits China. Says he enjoyed driving empty roads in the Pakistani capital. The aerial surveillance impressed the guest too, though he wondered what purpose these roaming helicopter are going to serve beside pleasure of nice view to those on board.
